Youth Council

The future has a seat here.

The Naut’sa mawt Tribal Council Youth Council brings the next generation of Coast Salish and Kwakwaka’wakw leaders into the work of the Tribal Council. Their voices, ideas, and vision for the future are not an afterthought here. They are essential.

ABOUT THE YOUTH COUNCIL

New ideas. Real influence. A place to grow.

Established in 2021, the NmTC Youth Council supports the work of Naut’sa mawt with new ideas, passion, and vision for a better future. The Council offers a supportive platform for people up to age 30 to acquire knowledge, cultivate communication skills, and foster leadership qualities.

Through monthly virtual meetings, youth connect and learn from one another, participate in workshops, and offer feedback on how NmTC can better support the youth of its Member Nations. One or two youth representatives from each Member Nation can be appointed to the Youth Council.

NmTC is committed to providing our youth with the tools and support they need to face challenges and take advantage of the opportunities that come their way. The Youth Council also meets quarterly with the Elders’ Council — a space where wisdom and energy meet, and where the thread between generations stays strong.
